  • What are natural isolates and how are they different from other perfume materials?

  • Learn about the various methods used to extract natural isolates from essential oils and absolutes, and how chemical processes can also be used to create natural molecules.

  • There are many natural isolates to chose from, but many of them won’t be very useful to you. We’ll help you decide which ones you should invest in first.

  • Learn to use natural isolates as part of your perfume design process, and to integrate them into your existing accords and perfumes.

    List of natural isolates studied: ambrettolide, anisaldehyde, anisyl alcohol, benzyl acetate, benzyl benzoate, cis-3 hexenol, cis-3 hexenyl acetate, citronellol, gamma-nonalactone (aldehyde C-18), gamma-undecalactone (aldehyde C-14), geraniol, geranyl acetate, ionones, linalool, linalyl acetate, maltol, melonal, nerol, neryl acetate, nerolidol, phenylethyl alcohol, rhodinol, vanillin.

You’ll need to provide your own perfumery raw materials but we’ll be happy to share with you our list of recommended suppliers. Additionally, a subsidised perfumery kit is available to students who sign up for any of our courses. You can see the contents HERE.
