IMPORTANT: This is a completely self-directed course and learning is done using coursenotes in PDF format, slides and short videos. There are no classes or tutorials, and no contact or support with a tutor. You can book half hour consultations with Marina Barcenilla at an additional cost if required.

- Preparation, essential tools and things that will make your life as a perfumery student much easier! 
Training your nose: Learn to smell like a perfumer and to evaluate perfumery ingredients and fragrances. This module includes:
- Developing your olfactory memory. 
- Perfumery language and vocabulary. 
- Smell like a perfumer: organoleptic evaluation of perfumery ingredients. 
- Keeping records of your evaluations and formulae. 
Classification of perfumery ingredients: Learn to classify ingredients according to their origin and odour profile. This module includes:
- Raw materials used in perfumery. 
- Extraction methods. 
- Classification of ingredients into aromatic groups. 
- Extraction methods. 
Perfume creation: Learn how to create basic accords and harmonious perfume blends. This module includes:
- Working with dilutions vs. working with pure raw materials. 
- How to create dilutions. 
- Fragrance families. 
- Create vertical and horizontal accords. 
- Create your own perfume. 
*Perfume ingredients studied: bergamot, juniper berry, lavender, mandarin, grapefruit, ho wood, cardamom, clove bud, geranium, jasmine, litsea cubeba, neroli, rose, ylang ylang, amyris, cedarwood, frankincense, labdanum, oakmoss, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver.
